A Study on the Investgation of the Hemagglutiantion Inhibition Antibody Titers against Mumps Virus in Seoul

Abstract
|
|
|
Prevalence of mumps antibody in Seoul population was assayed by means of hemagglutination-inhibition test. The investigation using sera collected in Seoul from September to November 1974 was done by age group and sex.
A total of 400 persons has been examined.
The results obtained are as follows;
1. Over-all positive rate was 64.3%.
2. Prevalence of mumps hemagglutination-inhibition antibody showed a significantly higher titer in the age group of 5∼14 as compared with the age group of 1∼4.
3. As for the sexual difference, the males showed higher positive rate than the females, positive rate of male 66.3% and female 61.2%; geometric mean titer of male 6.9 and female 5.4.
4. Among the positives, those with the titer of 1:10 occupied the largest proportion(34.3%).
5. Prevalence of mumps in Seoul, 1974(64.3%) gave higher positive rate than 1970 (48.3%).
